The homeowner had experienced moderate damage to his subfloor in his living room. After contacting an engineer, the engineering firm explained that there was an excess of moisture buildup in the crawlspace that was causing his subfloors to bulge. After contacting us, we did determine that the best course of action was to encapsulate the crawlspace with CleanSpace vapor membrane and add a Triple Safe Sump Pump to monitor excess moisture since he lived in close proximity to a waterway and naturally had a high water table. Now, after a year of having the system installed, not only is the problem resolved, but the homeowner can live with a peace of mind of not worrying about moisture buildup in the crawlspace again!

There was a historic home on the waterfront, in which the basement would be prone to flooding. Apart from the dank, musty/mold smell, there would be physical water in the basement. Our crews came and after excavating down to the foundational wall discovered that the foundation wall was structurally failing. After rebuilding the foundation and applying waterproofing agent HML 5000, the crews then updated the basement systems by installing a Triple Safe Sump Pump and finished by installing the Cleanspace Vapor Barrier System and Sani-Dry Dehumidifier to monitor the humidity and control water. Now, the basement no longer smells and remains completely dry, even when there was a hurricane that hit the region!

Job Stories From Jacksonville, FL
Exterior Waterproofing in Jacksonville, Florida

James and Frances B. had water entering their home every time there was a heavy rain. The soil surrounding their home was higher than the slab floor level and water would pool causing it to enter through the exterior walls. Their floors and carpet would constantly show signs of water intrusion inside the home. After doing some research, they found Indoor Environmental Management in the Jacksonville HomeMag and decided to give IEM a call for a free estimate.  President and founder of IEM, Mr. John Hassler met the couple at their home and offered James and Frances a solution to eliminate the water intrusion problem for good!

To correct the water intrusion issue, Mr. Hassler recommended installing a French drain along the side of the house with a drain line for discharge to the water behind the house. First, they would excavate the foundation wall to expose below grade portions of the wall and footer in preparation for waterproofing. Next, the crew applied HLM 5000 elastomeric waterproofing compound to the excavated areas of the exterior walls. IEM provided a diagram to explain which exterior walls needed to be waterproofed and where the French drain would be installed.

Since the installation of the French drain and the exterior waterproofing, the customer’s yard has not had any standing water or water intrusion! Indoor Environmental Management is pleased they could help this couple and solve the issues they had!

I have a 1940's era home that sits on a brick foundation wall. The crawlspace is about 2' tall and has a dirt floor. It gets musty and humid inside my home during the summer and I was wondering if installing a moisture barrier or insulation (or both?) would help with these problems. Did I read correctly that part of the process is to seal off all of the crawlspace venting? It makes sense since the hot air coming in would condense and cause moisture problems. I was also curious if you do inspections on weekends or evenings, if not I understand. Anyway, I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks
